Columbia Public Schools, Jefferson City School District among several districts canceling Wednesday classes for snow

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia Public Schools will not be in session Wednesday with a snowstorm expected to dump several inches of snow on Mid-Missouri.
CPS sent out alerts to parents at about 4:30 p.m. saying classes would be canceled and students would be expected to study "alternative methods of instruction."
CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark wrote in an email that the district has at least two full "AMI" days available, including Wednesday before days will need to be added to the end of the school year.
The Jefferson City School District called off classes on Wednesday, according to an email from the district.
The Southern Boone School District, Hallsville Public Schools and Our Lady of Lourdes also canceled Wednesday classes. Fulton, Moberly, Morgan County R-1 and more have called off classes.
The University of Missouri announced on its social media that it is going remote on Wednesday.
The MU campus and UM System offices are shifting to remote operations Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Snow is expected to begin early Wednesday in the western part of the region, moving across Mid-Missouri through the morning. Snow will exit Wednesday evening.
The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team expects up to 7 inches of accumulation for the area.
