The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day that will be in effect from 5:00 a.m. Wednesday through late Wednesday night for the potential of several inches of accumulating snow that will likely cause travel impacts.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for northwest Mid-Missouri and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our southeast counties.

Low pressure is progged to track to our south into the Ohio Valley Wednesday into Wednesday night, leaving Mid-Missouri on the cooler side of the system. The precipitation type will predominantly be snow, with a sleet/snow mix possible near or along the I-44 corridor that could cut into snow totals.

Snow is expected to begin to our west across Kansas on Tuesday night, then spread east into western Missouri before daybreak Wednesday. Snow showers will be widespread through the day, beginning to taper off after sunset. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 4-6" along and north of Highway 24, 3-5" along I-70, and 2-4" for those along Highway 50 including Jefferson City. South of Highway 50 those amounts will be around 1-3", and that would include any sleet accumulation.

Temperatures will fall into the low teens by Thursday morning, so any roads left untreated will be hard or almost impossible to navigate.
