Tracking a few flurries tomorrow, winter storm on Wednesday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and chilly with lows in the upper 20s.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with a few flurries. Highs in the lower 30s.
EXTENDED: Our next winter storm will take shape to the west tomorrow, with precipitation moving in to areas along Highway 65 around or just before sunrise, with sleet and snow moving into Columbia and Jefferson City around 6;00 to 8:00 a.m. There will be a brief window where we see sleet, but that zone will likely shift to the south fairly quickly, setting up north of I-44 through much of the morning and afternoon. Snow continues through the afternoon, beginning to taper off toward evening and eventually ending to our east by or before midnight. Totals are highest across northern Missouri, with 4-8" north of I-70. Columbia looks to be squarely around 6", while Jefferson City will be around 4-5". Locations near the Lake will be around 1-3" with sleet cutting into total snowfall accumulation. Temperatures on Thursday morning will fall into the lower teens, so any roads untreated will be quite slick. Thursday and Friday are dry, but another system looks to take aim by Friday night into Saturday, bringing mainly rain and perhaps ending as snow on Saturday evening as temperatures on Saturday will reach the upper 30s. We'll be chillier behind that system with highs in the 20s on Sunday.Â
