Tracking rain overnight and a big cool down tomorrow
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers overnight into tomorrow. A few flurries are possible through daybreak, but no impacts are expected. Gusty winds with lows in the upper 30s.
TOMORROW: Spotty showers and/or flurries exiting before midday. Mostly cloudy and windy with highs in the upper 30s to around 40 with wind chills near the freezing mark.
EXTENDED: Much colder air is moving into Mid-Missouri to end 2024 as low pressure wraps showers back into Mid-Missouri tonight into tomorrow morning. As precipitation exits, strong winds hold through Tuesday with high temperatures only making it to about 40 degrees. Clouds gradually decrease Tuesday night into Wednesday, allowing lows to fall off into the mid-20s New Year's Day. We'll have sunshine on Wednesday followed by a fast moving clippers system that could bring some snow showers on Thursday. Little to no impacts or accumulation is expected as the band of snow will be moving fairly fast through the area. We'll end the week dry and cold on Friday with highs near the freezing mark. Our next low pressure system is moving in from the west between Saturday night and Sunday. That will bring a mixed bag of precipitation, depending on the track and timing. Travel impacts are expected, but it's not yet clear where snow, sleet, and rain will set up across our region.
