Tracking a cold weekend and a warm Christmas week

TODAY: Wednesday will be cloudy, breezy, and cool. Temperatures remain in the low 40s thanks to persistent clouds and a 10-15 mph north wind that may gust up to 20-30 mph at times. Wind chills will be in the 20s and 30s most of the day.

TONIGHT: After a cloudy day, clouds will persist into the night, only letting up near sunrise Thursday. This will help to keep us relatively mild, keeping temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s. Winds will be calm most of the night through the morning.

EXTENDED: Thursday brings more warmth with a south breeze, that puts highs back int the upper 40s, if not 50s for some near the Lake of the Ozarks. This south wind will be feeding into an area of low pressure that brings a cold front Thursday night. This front still looks dry for us, but we will feel a stark contrast in temperatures behind it. Friday morning starts in the low 20s, while highs only reach near freezing. We may have lows in the teens for some over the weekend, with highs just cracking 30s, until warmth returns with shower chances on Monday and Tuesday. Christmas looks warm, but we may have to contend with showers Christmas eve.
