Tracking a cool night before a weekend warm-up

TODAY: After a frigid start in the teens with wind chills in the single digits, temperatures struggle to warm and get stuck in the 20s this afternoon. We'll be sunny, with a northerly breeze around 10-15 mph this morning, and near 5 mph this evening.

TONIGHT: High pressure centered in mid-Missouri will establish clear, calm, and frigid conditions again, with lows expected in the teens again Friday morning. Winds will be calm so we should feel warmer than early Thursday.

EXTENDED: South winds return through the day Friday, climbing temperatures back to the high 30s. We'll Be near 50 on Saturday with sunshine and south winds both Friday and Saturday. The south winds continue Sunday, pushing highs into the mid-50s, but clouds increase ahead of a plume of moisture moving into the bootheel region Sunday afternoon. We may see a few showers from this near I-44 Sunday night, and further north into Monday morning, but generally we expect this rain to largely miss us to our southeast. Then, on Monday we get one last warm day, before a cold front returns with cold and dry air, limiting much chance of precipitation on Tuesday. Highs cool into the 30s and 40s by the middle of next week.
