Tracking a warm and breezy start to the week
TODAY: Monday will be a warmer day, with more south wind wrapping around high pressure that is leaving us after keeping us cooler over the weekend. We'll have some high clouds this morning that will let light through, so grab the sunglasses, but you may not need them all day as clouds thicken this afternoon. Temperatures reach near 80 thanks to south winds sustained near 10-15 mph, gusting from 20-30 mph.
TONIGHT: Temperatures remain in the 60s overnight with thicker clouds possibly hanging on overnight and sustained south winds.
EXTENDED: Clouds will be sparse by sunrise on Tuesday. This plus an increase in south winds will surge highs into the mid-80s. Winds will be more impressive Tuesday, sustained 15-20 mph and gusting in the 30-40 mph range. This, partnered with dry air and fuels will lend to erratic fire behavior and dangerous burning conditions on Tuesday. More rain could help that, and more is forecast by Wednesday evening. An approaching cold front will drive a chance for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night. These may have severe potential near Kansas City Wednesday evening, before weakening as they move in our direction. Some potential for isolated severe impacts exist in the current forecast west of highways 63 and 54 that evening. Rain will exit Thursday morning, and leave us cooler and drier for Halloween night. Temperatures reach near 80 for highs Wednesday, but are likely closer to 60 Thursday. Cooler air lingers for the weekend, but so does active weather as we have 60s and rain chances forecast Saturday and Sunday.
