Tracking a pleasant Sunday ahead of a big warmup

TODAY: Sunny and mild with high temperatures just shy of 70 degrees. Winds out of the south remain light between 8 to 12 mph.

TOMORROW: Very breezy with southerly winds increasing to 10-15 mph, gusting up to 30 mph all day. These warm winds push temperatures back up to nearly 80 degrees.

EXTENDED: Cloud cover and gusty winds are expected through the first half of the workweek as high pressure builds to our east and a trough of low pressure digs into the mountain west. Mid-MO is squeezed in between, pushing wind gusts up to 40 mph on Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures will continue to reach near or above 80 degrees through Wednesday. This will also lead to elevated fire danger with the current drought. Luckily, rainfall ahead of a cold front on Wednesday afternoon will bring good relief by Halloween with cooler temperatures and calmer winds for trick or treating.
