Tracking isolated storms tonight, hot Friday
TONIGHT: Isolated to scattered storms late with heavy downpours and small hail possible. Lows in the upper 60s.
TOMORROW: Any storms exit east early. Becoming mostly sunny and hot with highs near 90.
EXTENDED: Clouds increase tonight as low level winds pick up, increasing moisture across the region. A few showers and storms develop ahead of a weak cold front, but the severe threat looks low by the time they move into Mid-Missouri. A couple storms could linger in our eastern counties by daybreak, but most of Friday looks dry and hot with highs in the low 90s. An active pattern sets up for the weekend with ingredients for storms and perhaps even heavy rain across northern portions of the state. Rounds of showers and storms are possible, with the best chance for measurable rain between Saturday night and early Monday. A few storms may become severe on Sunday afternoon as instability and wind shear increase across Mid-Missouri, with isolated hail and gusty winds possible. Rain amounts through Monday will range between 1-2", with the highest amounts north of I-70. As a cold front sweeps east between Sunday and Monday, next week will be much cooler with northwest upper winds keeping temperatures slightly below average in the 70s each afternoon.
