Tracking continued summer heat and increasing weekend rain chances

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the mid-60s. Patchy river valley fog possible.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with increasing afternoon clouds. Highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Despite the lack of cloud cover, we stay mild with lows in the mid-60s and perhaps a little river valley fog by daybreak. A few more clouds roll in tomorrow, but it's still just as hot with highs in the upper 80s. We'll be watching a slow moving system across the Plains that will park a cold front to our west on Thursday. Low level winds will push in enough moisture ahead of that front Thursday night into Friday, bringing a chance of showers and a few storms. We'll still manage to make 90 degrees on Friday before that front slowly works its way east over the weekend. How much weekend rain we see will depend on how quickly the front moves east, but showers and a few storms are looking more likely between Saturday and Monday. From there, we finally get a little relief from heat as highs fall back into the upper 70s by Monday. Rain amounts could change, but continue to increase as the weekend gets nearer.
