Tracking rain from a cold front that brings a cooler weekend

TODAY: Friday starts with a muggy feel, and a few showers. Showers will be weakening and dying as they move in from the west ahead of a cold front this morning. The cold front will still be there though, and it will trigger storms along it's front edge this afternoon as it continues to slide across the region. Most south of a line from Sedalia to Mexico will see thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening, with storm initiation sometime in the 1-3 p.m. window. Storms will be scattered, but a chance for hail or damaging winds will exist on an isolated basis. Overall the threat for severe is low with only modest support for these storms.

TONIGHT: Areas in the central to norther portions of the region will find themselves dry and behind the front by Saturday morning, but showers and possibly storms may linger in the south overnight. Temperatures will begin to fall into the 60s, by sunrise in the north.

EXTENDED: Some storms will redevelop near I-44 Saturday afternoon, but most will be dry, and more mild feeling. Most will have a high in the low to middle 80s Saturday, with humidity slowly draining the region. More mild air will be even more noticeable on Sunday, when highs are again expected in the low 80s. Another cold front will slide in from the north Sunday, which will leave us in the 70s with even drier air Monday through Wednesday.
