Tracking a hot and mostly dry day

TODAY: Thursday is another hot and humid day, with abundant sunshine and plenty of dry time for tailgating and all things Mizzou. One hiccup could be the chance for isolated evening storms, but these should be very spotty in coverage, so there's a good chance we'll stay dry. Just check radar periodically and have a plan to avoid the threat of lightning should anything develop.

TONIGHT: The best chance for isolated storms will be between 4 and 7 p.m. Anything that develops will weaken and die with sunset. Severe weather is not anticipated. A line of storms will approach from the west late overnight. This is forecast to arrive after midnight and won't impact gametime. It may look ominous as it moves into the Kansas City area, but is expected to weaken quickly.

EXTENDED: Many may not see any showers by Friday morning, but we'll keep a chance for showers through Friday morning. Somewhere over mid-Missouri, the cold front that drives this rain will redevelop storms in the afternoon. This is most likely along and south of a line from Sedalia to Mexico. These storms will be mostly heavy rain and lightning, but a limited chance for hail and gusty winds will be possible. This rain will keep many in the 80s on Friday, but the cooling effects of this cold front will keep us in the 80s or cooler well into next week. Highs are forecast in the low 80s with little to no humidity Saturday through Sunday, with 70s forecast Monday and Tuesday. Dry air and dry skies are forecast through Wednesday.
