Tracking a hot and humid Thursday before Friday storms

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and muggy with a low storm chance. Lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy, hot and humid with highs in the low to mid-90s. The heat index will range between 98-100, and a few storms are possible by late afternoon.

EXTENDED: We are tracking partly cloudy skies tonight and a spot storm or two, but most areas remain rain-free with lows in the lower 70s. Tomorrow is hot and humid with highs in the low to mid-90s and a heat index between 98-100. There will be an afternoon/evening chance for widely scattered storms, but widespread rain isn't expected. We'll finally cool down on Friday with rain and storms redeveloping along the cold front in the afternoon into the evening, especially along and south of I-70. Any rain chance looks to stay across southern and southeast Missouri on Saturday as the cold front continues to exit, leaving us with cooler temperatures in the lower 80s. The rest of the weekend looks fantastic with highs in the low to mid-80s on Sunday and upper 70s from Labor Day into the middle of next week.
