Tracking a few storms tonight, hot and humid again tomorrow

TONIGHT: A few showers and storms, otherwise warm and humid with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny with isolated storms possible by late afternoon. Highs in the low 90s with a heat index near 100.

EXTENDED: Storms could pop up by this evening and will be widely scattered through about midnight. A few could produce gusty winds and heavy downpours but the overall severe risk is low. Tomorrow, cloud cover early on into the afternoon could keep us from hitting Weather Alert Day criteria (105 degrees) for heat, but it will still feel like about 100 by late afternoon with a risk of a spot storm or two. Thursday is going to be the last excessively hot day of the week with highs in the low 90s and a heat index near 100. Still looks like it will feel like the 90s by kickoff of the Mizzou football game, and rain/storms look to hold off until late evening ahead of the cold front. Friday is looking cooler with highs in the mid-80s and showers and storms that could linger into the evening, potentially hanging around for high school football games. As the front stalls to the south on Saturday, areas near I-44 could see scattered showers, but farther north will be much more comfortable with highs in the low 80s. Total rain amounts through Saturday will be under 0.5". We'll be dry for the rest of Labor Day weekend with temperatures in the lower 80s Sunday and in the upper 70s on Monday and Tuesday. We get back into the 80s by the middle of next week.
