Current drought conditions across Mid-Missouri

Drought has managed to remain minimal in the latest drought report that came out this morning at nine. Drought still persist in northeastern portions of Mid-Missouri including mainly portions of Macon and Monroe counties.

This latest update, does not include the rainfall seen earlier this week where Macon county recorded higher rainfall rates due to storm training over the area.

Next Thursday's report will take into account the rainfall that lead to flood advisories across the region. most likely, the drought conditions will decrease across Macon, but Monroe county could still hold onto their drought.

June has brought above average trends to Columbia which has reach 4.43" inches so far this month with more possible this Friday before the monthly count ends. Monroe county still remains in a rainfall deficit over the past month remaining an area of concern.

The past three months has relieved Mid-Missouri from our widespread, long-lasting drought due to near or just above average trends.

Throughout 2024, much of Mid-Missouri has remained near the average rainfall toals with Columbia just barely underneath the year to date average at 20.37".

Relief for northwestern portions of Mid-Missouri might be on the way as the extended precipitation outlook looks wetter than average.
