Tracking storms tonight that do not break the heat

TODAY: The weekend kicks off sunny and muggy with dewpoints in the upper 60s. With temperatures in the low 90s, the extra moisture puts the heat index around 100 degrees. A line of storms tracks in from the north late this evening arriving at our northern border by 7-8 p.m. A few of these storms could produce severe wind gusts up to 60 mph but storms will weaken overnight.

TOMORROW: Storms will track out before sunrise with little impact on temperatures. Highs manage the low 90s again on Sunday with a triple-digit heat index still possible.

EXTENDED: Monday and Tuesday will be even warmer and muggier as temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s and dewpoints float in the low 70s. This will make both afternoons feel like the low 100s, which could pose a risk of heat-related illnesses. A cold front will bring potential rainfall and slightly milder weather by Wednesday morning.
