Confirmed tornado tracks from this past weekend

This past weekend brought damage from tornadoes across much of the Midwest, including even here in Mid-Missouri.

A long line of showers and storms draped from Central Missouri to the southwest into southeastern portions of Kansas. Confirmed tornadoes spanned the entire distance of the storm with two confirmed tornadoes occurring in northern Morgan and Moniteau counties.

The first of the two tornadoes was just confirmed yesterday afternoon by the National Weather Service survey team from Springfield. A EF-1 tornado spanned just southwest of Florence to the northeast remaining on the ground for nearly two miles. The peak estimated winds gusted up to 75 mph.

The second of the two tornadoes would be confirmed on Sunday by the St.Louis National Weather Service survey team spanning just to the northeast of Tipton Missouri. This tornado was rated and EF-0 with a max width of 30 yards.

Thankfully both tornadoes caused no injuries or deaths only damaging a barn and trees.
