Tracking a conditional threat for severe storms tonight
TONIGHT: It is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for the potential of strong to severe storms. Luckily, rain and cloud cover from the impactful system last night has limited a good amount of energy that could have been available today. This means that the majority of storms throughout the afternoon and evening will not have the ability to become strong to severe. There is still the threat of isolated stronger storms if they find an area that is more unstable. If this does occur, the main threats will be damaging winds and also include the potential for a brief, weak tornado. The majority of showers and thunderstorms this evening will not pose a severe weather threat, but excessive rainfall will result in a flash flooding threat. TOMORROW: I'm tracking clouds and rain exiting the region throughout the morning, but lingering flooding from overnight rainfall could impact your morning commute. It will be sunny by the afternoon hours with a high of 74.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking another day of settled weather Tuesday with a sunny sky and a high of 83 by the afternoon hours. Enjoy this while it lasts, as we have another active pattern on the way by Wednesday. The highest chance of showers and thunderstorms become apparent by Thursday and last into Friday before a gradual clearing into the weekend.
