Tracking strong overnight storms and more activity Sunday
TONIGHT: It is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as I'm tracking isolated storms throughout the rest of the evening and a more widespread round of storms through the late evening/overnight hours. The evening/overnight round is the area of most concern as all severe weather types will be possible (large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes) and will also be associated with the risk of flash flooding due to heavy rainfall. Our most northwestern counties (Chariton, Macon, Saline) could see activity as soon as 8-9 PM tonight. Throughout the overnight hours, this will extend further into central Missouri. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts before going to bed tonight. TOMORROW: There is still an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day in effect until late tomorrow night. The intensity of storms will be determined by what happens tonight into tomorrow morning. If strong storms are able to form, they will most likely occur over the afternoon and evening hours as a cold front continues to move southeast through Missouri. Heavy rainfall causing flash flooding along with large hail and damaging winds will be the concern if storms become severe, but tornadoes are not out of the question. EXTENDED: I'm tracking a break in active weather Monday and Tuesday as any storm chances will be out of central Missouri. Temperatures will not take much of a hit as they warm up into the mid 70s by Monday afternoon and then into the low 80s by Tuesday afternoon. Calm weather does not stick around for much longer though as another chance at showers and storms arise on Wednesday through Thursday.
