Weather Alert Day: Storms have cleared, and left behind flooding

MONDAY MORNING UPDATE

All storms have cleared. Flooding remains a concern with areal flood alerts and river flood warnings.

INSIDER BLOG

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for Saturday and Sunday as we can expect multiple rounds of strong to potentially severe storms through the end of the weekend.

Setup

Mid-Missouri remains in the warm air regime of a complex setup that has produced multiple rounds of severe weather recently. As a cold front finally shunts this system eastward we could have one more chance of severe storms to close the weekend.

Timing

Clouds are still persistent throughout mid-Missouri and will be throughout the rest of the evening. A cold front is moving in from the west Sunday afternoon and has the potential to produce isolated severe activity. The severe window is open from roughly 4 to 9 p.m. today.

Impacts

Severe potential is somewhat lower today due to morning rain and persistent cloud cover, but all hazards are possible for the afternoon and evening hours for isolated storms that find a favorable environment. Flooding will be a concern all day as rain continues falling over saturated ground.

Prepare

With storms moving in over the weekend, many of us have plans that take us away from home. Make sure you have more than one way to receive severe weather alerts, especially overnight. Download the free ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather App to get those alerts sent to your mobile device.
