Tracking a windy and warmer weekend

slot0 - 2024-04-12T125422.561

TODAY: Friday wraps up the work week on a mild note. We'll be bright and sunny, with a northwest breeze sustained at 15-20 mph gusting to 30 mph. This rounds out to a high temperature back in the mid-to-upper 60s.

TONIGHT: Overnight, temperatures fall into the 40s as high pressure inching through the region drives clear skies and calm winds.

EXTENDED: South winds return Saturday morning, and with a day of sunshine and warm flow, we expect temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Another warm day comes on Sunday with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 80s. This warmth comes south of a warm front and ahead of a trough of low pressure to the west. Monday may be the warmest, with highs in the upper 80s. Storms develop ahead of that trough in Oklahoma and Kansas on Monday. This round of thunderstorms will likely pass through our region late Monday night. This may bring a chance for strong to severe storms locally. Lingering rain Tuesday morning, and potentially another round of rain later in the day, will keep rain chances in the forecast Tuesday. Wednesday will likely be drier, but one last wave arrives on Thursday to bring another chance at showers and storms, and potentially usher in a cool down. Otherwise, we likely remain warm, with highs in the low 80s through early next week.
