Tracking overnight showers and warmer weather
TONIGHT: I'm tracking light to moderate showers entering our western most counties by the late evening hours. These will traverse through the viewing area overnight and exit to the east by the morning hours. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s with winds staying out of the south at 15-20 mph.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking a quickly clearing sky throughout the late morning and early afternoon hours. gusty winds will be sticking around from the south at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. This along with sunshine drying out fuels will lead to an elevated fire danger in the afternoon hours. These two factors will also warm mid-MO up into the low to mid 70s.
EXTENDED: The solar eclipse takes place Monday, April 8th, and I'm tracking dry conditions overall. The one concern will be upper level clouds during the period of totality in Missouri. Both in the path of totality and in central Missouri, upper level moisture is expected to be present in some sense. There is still uncertainty of how thick this cloud layer will be and if it will be a hindrance to viewing the solar eclipse. Temperature wise, it will warm up into the mid to upper 70s by the afternoon. Rain enters from the south Monday night and sets a trend for a wet pattern through Thursday. The best chance for widespread rainfall will be on Wednesday (50%), before a gradual clearing into Friday.
