Tracking severe storms with large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes possible

TODAY: Monday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert day. Today is expected to be quite warm, in the mid-70s, as we are south of a warm front that exists somewhere near the Missouri/Iowa border. This will also put us squarely in the window for severe storms this afternoon and evening. Wind, hail, and tornadoes are all possible. Get the latest on our threat for storms from our ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog. We'll also be quite cloudy this morning and afternoon, which may threaten our chance for storms, but a few peaks of sun are possible, so you may want to grab the sunglasses and keep them handy just incase.

TONIGHT: Storms are likely tonight, with severe potential lasting through the midnight hour. Then, showers will be possible early Tuesday morning. This will come with a sharp cooldown into Tuesday morning. Temperatures will settle somewhere in the 40s early Tuesday morning.

EXTENDED: Starting in the 40s, we may just reach near 50 for a high on Tuesday, with clouds and north winds persistent. A lot of quiet time returns for the second half of the week. Wednesday could bring a spot shower, but otherwise we're dry and cool, with highs again near 50. By Thursday, we expect clouds to have cleared, and sunshine is expected to dominate the rest of the week. We'll see temperatures climb into the 60s by Friday, and this trend has us in the 70s by the weekend under more sunshine.
