Tracking an active pattern through Easter Weekend

TONIGHT: I'm tracking light rain picking up in southern Missouri slowly lifting north throughout the night. At most a rumble of thunder could be heard as there is a lack of energy throughout the area. Temperatures will drop down into the low 50s by the end of the night.

TOMORROW: I'm tracking scattered showers in the morning potentially hindering outdoor Easter activities, with stronger storm potential becoming present in the later morning hours. The area of concern is to the north of I-70 with stronger storms having the ability to produce hail stones as large as quarters throughout the afternoon hours. Approaching the later afternoon hours, there will be a lull in storm activity before more another round picks up late Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures throughout the afternoon will warm up into the mid to upper 70s despite cloud cover.

EXTENDED: Monday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day due to the concern of severe storm potential across central Missouri becoming likely. Hazards including hail, strong winds, along with a low tornado threat will all be present and will be most likely in the late morning hours into the afternoon. There is still uncertainty with this system as storm activity Sunday night could limit the amount of energy left for the Monday storms to latch on to. For more information on this event, read here: https://abc17news.com/weather/insider-blog/2024/03/29/weather-alert-day-severe-storms-possible-monday/. Rain sticks around through Tuesday and cooler weather returns after Monday's cold front, leaving mid-Missouri in the mid to upper 50s through Thursday.
