Tracking a warm up the next few days, storms possible by Easter Sunday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be cold again with clear skies and lows near the freezing mark in the lower 30s. Southwest winds pick up tomorrow as high pressure moves east, and temperatures climb back into the 60s. Friday will feature a few more clouds but it's even warmer with temperatures in the 70s. By Friday night, a few showers or storms will be possible across northeast Missouri near a storm system that will drop a stalled out boundary across Mid-Missouri over the weekend. Temperatures will vary through the weekend because of that front. Areas north of the front get into the 50s-60s, and points south in the mid-upper 70s. We could see a few showers and storms near and south of the front on Sunday, but the severe risk looks somewhat lower for now due to a capping inversion, or a warmer layer of air preventing storm updrafts from growing. However, the front lifts north on Monday, opening up the region to more moisture and instability. We'll possibly be tracking a chance for strong to severe storms by afternoon, but the position of the front will help us better determine the potential as we get closer to the weekend.
