Tracking the return of spring-like weather
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly clear sky with winds from the NW at 5-8 mph. These two factors will cool mid-MO down into the upper 20s by the end of the night. Remember to set clocks forward one hour and change smoke detector batteries as the transition to Daylight Savings Time occurs tonight.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking a chilly start to the morning in the mid to upper 20s, but as winds transition to the south at 5-8 mph and sunshine continues to warm the area, central Missouri can expect temperatures in the mid to upper 50s by the afternoon hours.
EXTENDED: Monday is expected to be even warmer in the upper 60s by the afternoon hours with the help of more sunshine. Tuesday our attention turns to a more active pattern as storm potential arises by Tuesday night (40-50%) and lasts throughout the rest of the week. After Tuesday night into Wednesday, the next best chance for thunderstorm activity will be Thursday night into Friday (40-50%). High temperatures will still be in the low 70s until Friday despite these storm chances and cloud cover, but this warmth will provide energy for thunderstorm development. Rainfall by the end of the week isn't expected to be as substantial as our previous system, but is still expected to reach .5-.75" area wide which will assist in current drought conditions.
