Tracking isolated strong storms tonight, cooler Tuesday
TONIGHT: Scattered showers and storms and cooler with lows in the upper 40s. A few storms could be strong, with up to quarter size hail possible. Storms exit before dawn Tuesday.
TOMORROW: Partly cloudy and cooler with highs in the upper 50s.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a cold front that will bring isolated to scattered thunderstorms over the next few hours, developing by 6:00 p.m. or so across northwest Missouri, and tracking east/southeast tonight into the overnight hours. By around 11:00 p.m. or so, we'll start to see scattered storms form into a broken line as they lose energy overnight. The main concern from about 6:00 p.m. to midnight will be 1" hail and heavy downpours. The tornado threat is low, with a greater risk across northeast MO up into northern and western Illinois. Once the cold front clears east, we'll be cooler tomorrow with highs making the upper 50s. We're pleasant through Wednesday before our next low approaches from the west on Thursday, bringing rounds of rain through Thursday and Friday. That system keeps our temperatures in the upper 50s through the end of the week and will bring about 1-1.5" of rain through Friday night. The weekend looks cooler, but we'll be dry on both days.
