Tracking mild temperatures, chance of rain and storms Wednesday night

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: Spring like air continues to take hold across Mid-Missouri as upper flow begins to shift more south-southwesterly this week. Warmer than average temperatures are expected through the weekend, with highs anywhere from 10-20+ degrees above average each day. Sunshine returns on Tuesday, with clouds moving in as warmer, more moist air filters in on Wednesday. Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week as a warm front lifts through the region early in the day, sending temperatures into the upper 60s to near 70. This setup could help prime the environment for a few thunderstorms late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning as a cold front sweeps through Mid-Missouri. The best chance for a few strong storms with large hail will be near the Lake of the Ozarks and points south. Behind the front, temperatures only cool to about 60 as rain exits on Thursday morning. Rain amounts will add up to less than 0.5". We'll end the week with sunshine and highs in the mid-upper 50s on Friday, and from there we'll warm up over the weekend to near 60 on Saturday and mid-upper 60s on Sunday.
