Tracking frigid wind chills Wednesday morning before a brief warm up
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the low single digits. Wind chills between -10 to -15 by daybreak.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the lower 30s. Evening flurries possible.
EXTENDED: Bitterly cold air sticks around through tomorrow morning as our lows drop down into the single digits again tonight with wind chills around -10 to -15 by morning. We manage to warm back up to the lower 30s in the afternoon with more sunshine ahead of clouds that move in late in the day. A few snow showers will be possible late Wednesday night, but it will be hard to get any accumulation from that with such dry air in place. We get to about 30 on Thursday afternoon ahead of a cold front that will bring colder air and a chance for snow by evening, especially for the northern part of the area. We could see a dusting to 1" area-wide by Friday morning. Another Weather Alert Day goes into effect Friday at midnight (morning) as morning low temperature will be around 5 degrees. We only make the low teens during the day with an even colder night ahead for Saturday. Lows dip to a few degrees below zero on Saturday and rise to about 15 during the day. We'll turn the corner by Sunday as upper level winds shift back to the southwest, sending temperatures into the lower 30s. Sunday night into Monday, we'll see another disturbance bring a chance for a brief period of freezing rain and then eventually rain as temperatures increase to near 40 by late afternoon. Rain continues into Tuesday with highs in the lower 40s.
