Tracking intense cold lasting into next week

TONIGHT: I'm tracking snow moving out of mid-MO throughout the afternoon and evening with accumulations by the end of the event around 1/2" to 1". Expect slick roadways while driving tonight. A Weather Alert Day is set for tonight because of low temperatures reaching into the negative single digits and double digits with wind chills making it feel like -20 to -25 degrees in most places. This dangerous cold can cause frostbite in 10-30 minutes if skin is not properly covered.

TOMORROW: Another Weather Alert Day is set for Sunday because of morning wind chills mentioned above and the lack of warming throughout the day. High temperatures are expected to only reach into low single digits, and wind chills will stick around that make it feel like -20 to -25 degrees outside. Down near the I-44 corridor and further south a chance at snow is expected with totals reaching 1-2" in that area by the end of the event.

EXTENDED: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are all Weather Alert Days for dangerous wind chills sticking around. These will be most present in the morning hours as low temperatures each morning with the exception of Wednesday are expected to be in the negative single digits. The feels like temperatures during these time periods are forecasted to be in the -20 to -25 degree range, but even during the daytime hours wind chills will be in the negative teens at least.
