Weather Alert Day: Winter threats dwindling as temperatures warm the rest of the week

Monday Afternoon Update:

ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day coverage is set to expire by 3 p.m. Monday as icy conditions are washed away by incoming rainfall. With temperatures holding above freezing the rest of the week road impacts will be limited to wet spots here and there.

Setup

The past week has been busy after several cold snaps and waves of precipitation and this activity doesn't settle down any time soon. A slight shift in the upper level flow will warm Mid-MO above freezing the rest of the week while several waves of rainfall track through the area.

Track

Widespread rain builds back in late Monday and could be heavy at times overnight. This is likely out by the Tuesday a.m. commute but another repeat evening round of rain comes by late Tuesday. This will also move out before the following morning, with at least one more round of rain likely later this week.

Prepare

Even as roads aren't icy, slick and wet spots could still make travel tricky. Keep it slower especially when rain is falling and don't forget those headlights!
