Tracking round two of accumulating snow
TODAY: Snowfall continues to surge through Mid-Missouri with the heaviest bands becoming widespread from 2-5 pm. All falling snow looks to accumulate this afternoon and early evening thanks to at or below freezing surface temperatures. Travel impacts look to deteriorate with these heavier bands making for hazardous driving conditions. An additional 2-3" is expected in Columbia with Jefferson City seeing T-2" additional. Areas to the northeast look to see even greater totals this afternoon/ evening as highs reach near freezing.
TONIGHT: Snow showers lighten up after pm for much of Mid-Missouri before clearing east after 9 pm. Temperatures cool into the upper teens throughout the overnight hours making snow and slush removal harder further impacting roadway conditions.
EXTENDED: Wednesday sees highs into the lower 40s looking mostly cloudy and dry. Thursday afternoon we see more chances of a wintry mix lasting throughout portions of Friday. Then the focus shifts to dangerously cold temperatures into this weekend and early next week.
