Tracking near average temperatures with a possible wintry mix this weekend

TODAY: Afternoon highs glide into the lower 40s as skies remain mostly cloudy. Winds remain out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Temperatures tonight will be similarly cold, compared to this morning, dropping into the 20s. Winds will remain westerly, but a cold front is on the way for daybreak Wednesday.

EXTENDED: Wednesday morning's cold front will bring a wind shift, and likely some additional cloud cover. High resolution guidance is starting to pick up on this feature that would leave us overcast, or close to it, on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be below freezing as these low clouds move in, and so should these clouds try to squeeze out some moisture in the form of precipitation, we could see a few flurries. Don't expect ANY impacts, as this may be better characterized as "spits" of snow. That should stop by mid-morning, and we'll likely just climb above freezing thanks to stubborn clouds, lingering through the day and into Thursday. We'll likely shake these low clouds through the day on Thursday, but additional high clouds will return ahead of our end of week system, keeping us partly cloudy at best. Still in the 30s, we'll have to wait until Friday to return to 40s, where we'll be eyeing a low pressure from the south west, that will try to bring us rain by the evening. This system will likely bring us another brush with old man winter, as it passes just south of us. This keeps us on the cold side of the system, meaning we'll likely have to watch for the possibility of a rain/snow mix. However, this system is on the verge of missing us south, so moisture availability and precipitation amounts are uncertain. What we know is that a wintry mix is possible from Friday night through Sunday morning. From there, we'll be eyeing another, potentially more potent system into early next week, but details are scarce this far out.
