Tracking scattered afternoon showers

Today: Afternoon highs reach into the mid-70s with light scattered showers. Winds remain out of the southwest at 8-12 mph.

Tonight: Scattered showers remain throughout all of Mid-Missouri overnight with lows cooling into the lower 60s.

Extended: Showers and storms remain throughout Central Missouri lasting throughout the weekend before drying into next week with rainfall totals amounting up to 1.5" widespread. Highs cool significantly from the mid-70s into the upper 40s between Wednesday and next Monday.

Chance Gotsch grew up just south of St. Louis and moved to Columbia to attend the University of Missouri to pursue a degree in Atmospheric Sciences.

His interest in weather begin as a child when he used to be afraid of storms.
