Tracking a cooler start to next week, active pattern setting up

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and cooler with highs in the upper 60s.

EXTENDED:  Tomorrow will be cooler by almost 10 degrees as a weak cold front slides in tonight. We can expect sunshine through early Tuesday before a warm front begins to lift in from the southwest. We'll warm into the low 70s on Tuesday with a chance for showers and storms along the boundary Tuesday night, generally north of I-70. We'll be warm in the wake of that front on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the upper 70s to around 80. Rain and storms are possible on Wednesday, however, chances look highest just north of our area, meaning we could spend the day mostly dry and warm. Thursday will be another above average day with highs near 80 once again, but the associated cold front with this mid-week system moves through late in the day into early Friday, bringing a better shot at rain and storms through Friday. That will drop our temperatures back to the low 60s for highs on Friday with rain clearing out for the weekend. Rain amounts could be in excess of 2" north of I-70 by the end of the week, but the weekend looks dry and fall like with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
