Tracking rain chances into the weekend

TONIGHT: Isolated storms will be possibility this evening, as our upper level ridge continues to break down. These storms will largely remain sub-severe and pose primarily a lightning risk, but an isolated strong storm cannot be ruled out. Storms that develop will die with or before sunset. The bigger story will be the continued heat. Heat index values this evening are once again pushing 105-110 across most of mid-Missouri. This heat will linger into the overnight, with these values only falling into the 90s after sunset.

TOMORROW: Overnight, a cold front passes through. This will bring showers and storms by sunrise to mid-MO. These are not expected to be severe. Showers and storms bring limited rainfall, with totals mostly falling below a quarter of an inch. Their impact will largely be cooling. Clouds, rain, and a north wind keep us relatively cool on Saturday. We will start muggy and warm, but highs will only reach mid-80s, and are expected to fall through the afternoon. Our break from dewpoints likely won't come until Sunday.

EXTENDED: Sunday's highs are in the upper 70s and low 80s, depending on how long clouds stick around. We'll have a chance for showers in the morning, but most of the day looks dry, with low humidity. Monday is another cool day, with highs in the low 80s. Another cold front arrives late Monday into Tuesday. Moisture levels with this frontal passage is questionable, and so rain chances are low, but we may see cooler air behind it. High temperatures are trending towards 80, with lows in the 50s towards Wednesday and Thursday, with sunshine brought in part by surface high pressure.
