Tracking last two days of dangerous heat before weekend fronts arrive

Today: Afternoon highs top out just below or at the triple digit mark with the heat index up to 109 degrees prompting a Weather Alert Day. Skies remain partly cloudy.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the upper 70s as skies remain partly cloudy with winds out of the southwest at 8-12 mph.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has been extended through 8 pm on Friday due to the heat index increasing once again potentially up to 107 degrees. Skies remain partly cloudy Friday before a cold front arrives into Saturday giving way to isolated shower chances. Chances for isolated showers and storms increase slightly into Sunday as highs only reach into the upper 70s before a cooler week below average highs next week.
