Tracking daily 100-115 degree heat index through Thursday
TONIGHT: Skies will remain partly cloudy into the evening, and temperatures remain warm. Expect lows in the mid-70s overnight, with dewpoints in the 70s. This will make for an incredibly muggy start to the day, and create potential for fog.
TOMORROW: Tuesday is likely nearly identical in sensible weather. Meaning, with temps a few degrees warmer, and dew points a few degrees cooler, it will end up feeling very similar to Monday. Expect heat index values in the 105-115 range areawide under partly cloudy skies.
EXTENDED: The forecast remains dry for the long term, but there is relief from heat in the forecast. We'll feel dangerous heat Thursday, and possibly Friday as well. We will be tracking a cold front that may bring some relief as soon as Friday, or it may stall and we may have to wait for another front to push through on Saturday. Timing of relief is uncertain, but it's likely that we will get relief sometime this weekend. Highs are still forecast in the upper 90s, and if that's the case, we still have a chance at 100-110 heat index values. We should cool into the 80s for highs on Saturday, and low 80s and possibly 70s on Sunday. There is a possibility for rain along this front, but chances are low, and given uncertainty in timing of the front, we won't yet include chances for rain in the forecast.
