Tracking calm conditions tonight and severe storm chances Sunday

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly dry conditions with the exception of the small chance of isolated rain showers. Temperatures will be dropping into the low 70s.

TOMORROW: I'm tracking strong to severe storms throughout the majority of the day, which is why the Stormtrack Weather team has issued a Weather Alert Day from 4 AM until midnight tomorrow. The first round of storm chances come with a warm front slowly moving into mid-MO. At the very least, most of the viewing area will be observing rainfall, but how far the front extends to the north will decide how much of mid-MO will see these strong to severe chances. If any storms to become severe, the main threats will be hail and strong winds. Air behind this warm front will set up a favorable environment for storm development later in the day, where I'm tracking a cold front moving through Missouri. Again, how far the warm front tracks north earlier in the day is going to play an important role on how much of mid Missouri observes severe storms in the afternoon and evening hours tomorrow. The environment that the warm front creates will lead to more hail and wind chances, with a tornado threat as well. With all of this in mind, timing and placement are both very uncertain, as there are so many variables playing into how much of the viewing area sees activity tomorrow.

EXTENDED: Next week I'm tracking conditions that are calm, sunny, and cooler than the average for this time of the year. Temperatures to start off the week will be in the mid to high 70s with the help from this cold front on Sunday, and will end in the low to mid 80s. Every day next week I'm tracking mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
