Tracking an active weekend before a quiet stretch

TONIGHT: Today is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. An environment for strong storms still exists if we can get storms to develop tonight. Development in Nebraska and Kansas are a symptom of the same system that will bring us storm chances this evening. Timing and placement have both been highly variable, and are expected to remain that way. Storms may develop any time after 6 p.m. in mid-Missouri, but chances are a bit better after 9 p.m. as our low level winds start to increase this evening. Anything that develops this evening will have severe chances.

TOMORROW: Storms are expected to largely clear by sunrise, to the south. Saturday will be slightly cooler, but still warm, with highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Another round of storms arrives on Sunday. Overall rain chances are fair, and it's beginning to look like severe storms will be a possibility. With that said, we've seen some movement from this system in guidance, and placement from north to south will have a big impact on what kind of severe weather we can expect, and how much, if at all. Drier and cooler weather arrives Monday, with sunshine and low 80s forecast. Currently, no meaningful rain chances appear through Friday, with highs lingering in the 80s.
