Parts of Mid-Missouri catching up on rainfall

Dry conditions have prevailed most of summertime across our area with the season starting off exceptionally quiet, but a big pattern shift has brought recent changes. July saw more weather systems with scattered periods of rainfall, and large portions of Missouri have caught up on seasonal rain. We saw the highest rain amounts this past month coming in across southern portions of the state, and this script flips for northern areas.

Locally, both Columbia and Jefferson City were officially behind on July rainfall, though some of this comes down to data retrieval. The I-70 corridor is generally where the rain deficit flips, with the southern half of Mid-MO caught up on rain, while northern counties are behind by several tenths of an inch. This recent rain is helping relieve drought for some, but we will need to stay on track for the rest of summer.
