Tracking dangerous heat lasting into the weekend

Today: Afternoon highs top out near 104 degrees as the heat index climbs up to 110 degrees. Skies remain mostly sunny with winds out of the west at 10-15 MPH and gusts up to 23 MPH.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to 79 degrees with winds out of the southwest at 10-15 MPH.

Extended: Friday continues the Weather Alert Day as the heat index looks to reach up to 108 degrees. Overnight scattered showers and storms remain possible into Saturday morning before more chances Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
