A Weather Alert Day has been issued by the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team for Thursday and Friday.

The heat index has the chance to hit 110 degrees. HVAC and repair companies have been busy fixing air conditioners as the area heats up.

Several cooling centers are available in Columbia and around the states, for those who may need it.

  • Daniel Boone Regional Library – 100 West Broadway Street
  • St. Francis House – 901 Rangeline Street
  • The Salvation Army Columbia Corps Community Center – 1108 West Ash Street
  • The Salvation Army Harbor House – 602 Ann Street
  • Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services – 1005 West Worley Street
