Tracking a sharp warmup today ahead of evening storms

THIS MORNING: Isolated storms are possible early this morning in southern Missouri but we are generally expected to stay dry. Temperatures quickly rise to near 90 before noon.

TODAY: The early afternoon could see temperatures in the upper 90s today, with moisture adding on a few degrees. Some scattered showers are possible this evening, beginning by dinnertime and lasting overnight.

EXTENDED: There could be some slight morning chances for rain on Wednesday, but it seems limited as of now. The intense summer heat continues to rise, as Wednesday could be our first day of the week where we observe temperatures entering the triple digits. Thursday and Friday temperatures jump a degree or two higher, with the heat index ranging from 102-104 degrees. Through the weekend, we are expected to cool down slightly, but will still be reaching the mid to high 90s.
