Tracking storms tonight, warmer conditions tomorrow

TONIGHT: Rainfall is winding down this evening, and we expect to see drier conditions through the evening. A low level jet of wind will increase at the low levels of the atmosphere, from the south. This may help generate thunderstorms later tonight, close to midnight. This will likely come right along the edge of greater instability in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Exact location of this is still uncertain, but generally we expect this to come east of a line from Moberly to Rolla. Some guidance depicts storms developing in mid-Missouri, and some depicts storms developing just east of our region. There will be some potential for hail with these storms, but the wind risk is low. You may not see storms at all tonight, so the chance for severe weather overall is low. These storms are expected to strengthen as they move east.

TOMORROW: Wednesday will start mostly dry, but better chances for showers and storms will return in the afternoon. Expect our temperatures to climb back into the 90s from the increase in our south winds.

EXTENDED: Thursday will be another warm day with a chance for rain, especially in the morning. We'll trend drier late Thursday into Friday behind a weak cold front that may be just enough to dry us completely on Friday and drop highs into the 80s. At this point, any chance for rain over the weekend looks extremely low, with mostly dry weather expected through early next week. Temperatures will start to climb next week, into the 90s as soon as Sunday.
