Tracking scattered rain early Wednesday, brutal heat this afternoon

This morning: Isolated showers are possible early morning, but won't stop warming temperatures. By noon today, the feels-like will already be in the low 90s.

This afternoon: Temperatures soar to the mid-90s under sunnier skies today, and the heat index jumps to around 100 degrees! The UV Index peaks at 11, extreme levels that can cause sunburn in under a quarter of an hour.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has been issued for Thursday as the heat index is expected to climb up to 107 degrees. The actual high climbs just over 100 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Thursday evening storms are possible along a front stalled across Missouri, but placement on that feature is still uncertain. Regardless if we see isolated or more scattered storms, Friday again has a heat index of up to 105 degrees making for another dangerous day of heat. More scattered rainfall is expected over the weekend to finally break the extreme heat.
