Tracking dangerous heat Thursday and Friday

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the mid-70s as skies remain partly cloudy. Winds remain out of the southwest at 8-12 mph.

Tomorrow: A Weather Alert Day has been issued Thursday as the actual air temperature reaches up to 102 with the heat index soaring up to potentially 108 degrees. Skies remain partly cloudy with winds continuing out of the southwest at 8-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph possible. An isolated storm or two remains possible north towards Moberly and Macon during the afternoon/ evening hours but rainfall totals remain very minimal if storms do form.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has also been issued throughout Friday lasting until the evening hours as the actual air temperature rises to 100 degrees with the heat index reaching 106 degrees. Friday evening into the overnight hours welcomes scattered showers and storms that remain around the area throughout all of Saturday and Sunday. Highs cool to or just below 90 degrees throughout the weekend.
