WEATHER ALERT DAY: Tracking PM Storm chances lasting into overnight hours

TONIGHT: I'm tracking severe weather chances moving into NE Missouri right around 8 PM tonight that last into the overnight hours ahead of a cold front. The main threats are strong winds and isolated large hail, with very low chances of a weak tornado. As these storms keep tracking south and east from Iowa into Missouri, we will see a weakening trend, and there's a chance that the viewing area only sees non-severe thunderstorms. The threat is still there though, which is why we have a weather alert day issued for mid-Missouri.

TOMORROW: As light chances of rain in the morning quickly move out, mostly sunny and warmer conditions quickly move in. I'm expecting us to get up to 90 degrees on average for our highs across the viewing area. Along with this, we'll see stronger winds here in Missouri, with NW winds at 15-20 mph and gusts getting up to 30 mph. This will set the trend for the first part of the week.

EXTENDED: As the work week continues, so does the summer heat, as temperatures are reaching high 80s to low 90s every day. That isn't taking the heat index into account, which could make us feel like we are more in the mid to high 90s with the sun. Mid-Missouri will see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies every day, and as we get into Wednesday, a trend starts up for slight chances of rain every day going into the weekend. The UV index will be strong almost everyday, so make sure to take proper precautions in order to stay protected.
