Tracking a warm up into a weak cold front arriving this weekend

TONIGHT: Skies will clear at first this evening, but some partly cloudy skies will return by sunrise Friday when temperatures will have fallen into the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Friday will bring another very similar day sensibly, with temperatures again near 90, this time more likely crossing into the low 90s for most of us. Cumulus clouds will redevelop by midday and give us something to look at through the day, but odds of seeing any rain from them are slim to none.

EXTENDED: Rain chances will grow as we turn our attention to a cold front approaching from the west by Saturday. Temperatures and dewpoints will continue to climb, leaving us hot and humid on Saturday, with highs in the 90s. Saturday afternoon looks like the mostly likely time frame for the bulk of our rainfall. The front is expected to lag behind our rainfall to some degree. It will likely pass sometime early Sunday. If that is the case, it may keep us from feeling even hotter on Sunday, as it should introduce drier and cooler air into the region. For now, plan for the worst, as a small timing change could mean a big temperature difference. Overall, rain chances look to be wrapping up by sunrise on Sunday, perhaps sooner. Rain totals are looking increasingly disappointing the closer we get, with totals expected to come in at less than a quarter inch for most. Drier skies return Monday through Tuesday, with hints at rain by Wednesday. Temperatures will fall only slightly behind the front with temperatures expected in the high 80s by Monday.
