Tracking warming temperatures ahead of a cold front this weekend

TONIGHT: After clouding up and producing a few miniscule pop up showers, skies will clear overnight, and temperatures will fall into the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: A very similar day is on tap for Thursday. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies. It is expected to be a mostly dry day, but similarly to today, a pop up shower is possible, especially northeast of Columbia.

EXTENDED: We'll climb back above 90 degrees on Friday under partly cloudy skies. Saturday is very similar, but a few degrees warmer, reaching low-to-mid 90s as southerly flow increases ahead of our next low pressure system. This arrives to grow rain chances by Saturday afternoon at the earliest. Rain chances will be best into the evening, and pushing south out of the region on Sunday. Timing is still a question, and will certainly play a role in both rain chances on Sunday, but also afternoon highs. Anyone south of the front may reach a combination of mid-90 degree temperatures, and 65+ degree dewpoints that may result in heat index values in the 95 to 100 degree range. Rain totals look to be pulling back for the weekend, with totals at a widespread level coming in generally shy of a half an inch for those on the high side in the south. Those in the north near Columbia, Moberly, and Mexico picking up totals closer to a quarter of an inch.
